We’re you told to hold your breath while you pushed?

Anecdotal evidence: I did purple pushing with all three of my kids, tore every time, but the last time was with an 11 lb baby.
I now live with a permanent birth injury.
DON’T HOLD YOUR BREATH TO PUSH.

Još ne razumjem dobro engleski jezik ali svakako i sve što može pomoći ženi na porodu da se smanji bol potpisujem.-Nije svaki porod isti i to je veliki problem kod prijenosa informacija ali u globalu to tako nekako treba biti.
Želim svim ženama i djevojkama brz i lak porod👌😋😋😃👍🥰🥰🥰👏👏😍🥰🥰❤️🍀

My midwife did such a wonderful job coaching me through the breathing. Any time I started to tense up and hold my breath, she told me lower my head and to make a low moaning sound as I sighed out. I would every once in a while bend my neck backwards and scream “up”, but she kept reminding me to not waste my energy with the scream and to lower my head and breathe “down”. Had a VBAC and baby was out in 45 minutes, I only experienced minor abrasions.

I just gave birth on the 17th and when they told me hold and push for 10 seconds I looked at them like they were nuts. There was no way my body could have that kind of control and NOT pop any blood vessels 😂 I had 3 people yelling at me to hold my breath, one telling me not to push when my body was trying to push for me, it was one heck of a time.

I believe that all of the shitty doctors and nurses who care more about medical labor and their convenience rather than my comfort and health, caused me to tear every birth I've had. Even tho it's illegal to force a woman on her back to give birth I couldn't stand up for myself because I was in so much pain and couldn't do anything. I was bullied abused and forced by all of the hospitals and staff that I delivered at. I was vulnerable though and couldn't help myself because of how your mind just shifts in labor. I literally could not protect myself. It's important to have someone there for you to protect your wishes and needs since you can't do it yourself, but I never had that each time.

An exhale that I use a lot in exercise and yoga to control my breath is a kind of low, guttural sigh. It's hard to describe but it's a sigh deep in the back of the throat, almost as if you were angry. I plan on trying this out when I give birth.

I know this in theory but it never works out. I’ve had 3 unmedicated births and once I know the baby’s coming I get it over with as fast as I can.

I held my breath to push and clenched my jaw so tight, my gums bled. I also tore.

You should put your heels down when you squat. Lots of reasons why it’s better… but you will train a more balanced core, and lots more muscle development from that 1 singular change. They say if you can’t rest in a flat foot squat, that you can’t technically “squat” at all.

In Indonesia we called this technique as "lahiran tiup-tiup" tiup means blow and its getting popular amongst the mom to be 🥰🥰

Yes, that’s exactly how I was instructed to push and I had a second degree tear. Although the pregnancy and delivery was pretty easy for me thanks to all the videos on this channel)
