I was a soprano in the chorus for this performance. It was one of the most exciting moments in my life. Bernstein was simply astonishing - from the first rehearsals with just the chorus and a piano, to this final, glorious moment. What an experience and what an honour.

Mahler never knew how to end his symphonies because they were just so damn good. He just kept that shit rolling.

Magnificent. In a way I’m glad I wasn’t there for the performance because I would have been jumping up and down and losing my mind. Completely overwhelmed and transported.

I performed this with a CT chorale along with New Haven symphony when I was pregnant with my first child. I could NOT get through it without sobbing. It was one of the most emotional moments of my life.

I grin like an idiot every time I hear the end of Mahler 2, and even more so watching Bernstein conduct it! I love how happy he is!

Wow. I find him not just a major figure in music. but one of the most fascinating people in the popular culture of the second half on the 20th century.

Geez! Only the last couple minutes in a clip and I STILL can't keep a dry eye. It took me well over 20 years to fully get into this piece and be able to say I really had it in my musical memory, but oh-so VERY worth it. I grew up with Lennie's "Young Peoples' Concerts" so feel that I started my ear training RIGHT.

As a classical musician who has conducted youth orchestras,
I must say that
Mahler + Bernstein +
Cooper = tears of joy.

I've loved classical music my entire life but no piece of music has ever moved me like this one did...and watching it in Maestro and this video of the actual performance is just marvelous seeing the energy the orchestra and choir had to put into it. I cannot imagine the thrill it must have been to perform in the magnificent performance.

I imagined this is the glorious music playing when we're all meeting and hugging everyone we love, ( in tears of joy), united for all eternity, with God in Heaven, forever defeating death, evil and sickness
