2:23 • Little gestures that make great people!
He thanking the orchestra while the song still playing on the final chord gave me the goosebumps!
Thank you Mehta!

50 years with the Israel Philharmonic. The amount of dedication and investment is unspeakable. I’ve seen him on stage many times, and the last performances didn’t disappoint. Just wow.

Such an emotional🥺 moment in a conductor’s career. A great conductor! A great musician! He earned his spot in the list of ‘Greats’ and now he’s retiring. It must have been very difficult for him to live without the IPO as he has spent 50 years with them.
👏👏👏
Happy retirement, Zubin Mehta!

Regards from 🇮🇳

Mahler's Second: still among 3 most moving pieces in all music for me... And the way of delivering the finale without overstated theatrics of numerous conductors makes it more, not less, impactful. Maestro Mehta is himself, conveying the deep emotion without "stealing" the spotlight, being charismatic and humble at once. A great man.

I loved Zubin Mehta! He had such an authoritative posture when conducting. Truly in total command of the Orchestra in front of him ! BRAVO to you Maestro Mehta

Oh wow!!! What a wonderful conductor, musician and human being. I LOVE how he thanks the orchestra in the second last bar, so humble yet heartfelt.
I only saw him live in performance once, conducting Mahler's Symphony No. 1 ('Titan') in a Melbourne Hamer Hall performance of it with the Australian World Orchestra. At his choice they performed all 5 movements (the standard 4 plus the first version of the 2nd movement, which they played inbetween the revised 2nd movement and the 3rd movement). It was stunning!!! What was incredibly striking about his conducting was his mostly incredibly still/grounded stance which allowed for all phrasing subtleties to be as clear as day and for an incredible visual power to be obtained when he gestured crescendos or moments of power or force.
He is one of the greatest musicians and conductors to have lived, and as a fellow conductor and I'm incredibly grateful to him for what he has given to musicians and audience alike in the musical world!!

An absolutely thrilling moment, not only in music, but in the life of Maestro Mehta. I have watched this several times and am moved each time by spirit of the music and Maestro Mehta being touched by the whole experience. How anyone can experience this masterwork and not be moved is beyond me. Yet, I couldn’t help but notice the audience member in the background checking her watch, checking her purse, and her display of being simply past feeling. Sad for her.
