This is not the way it used to be, at least not in the United States. When I was in high school and college, not very long ago, nearly EVERY guy had a girlfriend. There were some guys that really didn’t have themselves together at all, and even most of them had a girlfriend. It’s changed so much, and very quickly here, and I don’t fully understand why.

Dating apps were mistake; and too many women always think they can do better. It’s created a group of men like myself who have checked out of society at large. This sucks.

This is more prevalent in social media dating apps than anything.

Average-looking men can do well socially with optimization around their basic looks: hit the gym, dress better, prioritize your sense of higher purpose, and improve your “ground game.”

None of this helps you in dating apps because everything is driven by facial features that serve as (often poor) proxy markers for everything else.

As someone who's not in education, employment or training, I've been suffering from chronic loneliness for years and it's very painful. Seeing one especially attractive or beautiful member of the opposite sex be out of reach for me, after another, is heartbreaking. Other men may have difficulty finding love, but I'm kind of screwed in this life situation.

This. I had a friend who was 6"3, blonde, blue eyed, handsome and charismatic, knows how to get what he wants type of guy, and he went wild during university. Slept with well over 100 woman, it was insane. In a long term relationship now on the path towards marriage, but when I think of sexual access I think of him. And he wasn't even wealthy.

I used to bristle at the suggestion of women being hypergamous - back when I was dating a stoner who later dropped out of college and moved back in with his parents (for the record, he was a lovely young man in most respects and extremely talented but not particularly motivated). Then I met and married a man 12 years older than me with a good job and a decent house and nice car (and also a cute kid). I am truly a slave to my base instincts. 😂

Getting rejected by women who you know are on your level or even below makes you really think about what's wrong with daiting nowadays. It also destroys your confidence as a man and hurts like hell...

I’d like to add It also depends whole lot on how firstly mothers teach, say to their daughters as for how fathers teach, say and behave with daughters.
I must also say many women are also discriminated by men for the way not only for maybe a less “beauty “ but also for the way they dress. If they are so so looking and dress very “openly” men will choose them instead of maybe a cuter woman dressed more modestly.

I was sexually active with many women most of my life but that was 70s and 80s so back when women were less picky. So glad I'm in my 60s where I don't give a s**t
