How to Build Safe, Strong and Durable Wood Horse Fencing

Keeping your animals, pets and livestock safe from entanglement, escape and predators is our main priority. Nobody wants to endure the cost of a vet bill because a horse got caught in a fence or losing livestock such as sheep to coyotes. Last year we got some companion goats for the horses that are able to get out of almost everything. We installed climb proof fencing and decided to dress it up with 4 rail ash boards on the outside. This is how we did it.

That looks great from a distance I think about 70 miles should do it!! Only an idiot would not stager the boards like you did!!!

Should the boards be placed on the inside or outside for a horse fence?

I need to put fencing up so I can bring my horses home from the barn where I'm boarding. I've watched a lot of fencing videos and I'm surprised that nobody stains are seals the boards. Is it just an unnecessary step? Would it make the wood last longer? TY!!

Would it be possible to just use 3 boards across and spread them out more?
