Switch out the button for a pressure plate placed on the slime block. Not only is it faster (you will stay looking down while placing all 3 blocks as opposed to down for the piston, down for the slime block, and then to the side of the piston for the button), you will also make it that much harder for the person chasing you to follow you, as when you step of the pressure plate, it will send a charge into the slime block and activating the piston below, launching you up and breaking the pressure plate as the slime block moves up from beneath it.
