Hey Team,

Hope everyone is good and well today and I think you are all going to absolutely love this video as I will show you some quick tips and tricks to help create cool, custom serf-based logotypes.

In the beginning, I used to create custom type directions by using my bedroom window as a lightbox, this was in my early days when I was trying to be a tattoo artist. But now I have a cool little A3 lightbox to help me create all the coolness I need.

There are so many ways you can do this but I think as a beginner these two particular options, shown in this video, are a great way to practice the skill. What they will help you start to understand is the way that each letter form works.

Option one: A simple grid option
Option two: Using a sans serif font as your guide

What I like about option two is the fact that you know that the Spacing and form of the letters are pretty bang on... all you need to do is just use the letters as a base to draw up from.

I hope this comes in useful on your journey at some point, it has helped me loads to create some cool type directions, and it works as a great practice tool.

If you have not signed up to my newsletter yet you're crazy... I have loads of free tutorials and design guides to help you on your creative journey so make sure you get involved. I also run monthly challenges and offer free mentoring to the winners.... pretty cool.
