Similar thing happened to me. I was working in the bar where I met owner of the studio who offered me a first studio job as a Digital Compositor. Luckily for me, I was ready for that :-). Bars and restaurants are very good place for networking.

Really solid points! I've started my own business because of clients I met while I was making them coffee at Starbucks. I didn't plan it to work this way, but treating every person as important and trying to make each person's day better in my little window of time with them led to these opportunities. They knew how hard I work and how much I care about people and they were happy to give me a chance when I started my own business in a completely different field.

That effort you bring to EVERYTHING you do will open or close doors for you. You don't need luck. It's statistics. If you put the effort in then eventually doors, multiple doors, will open up.
