People saying that we already know that don’t seem to get why this is different. Think of it like this.

Imagine the info as thousands upon thousands of little unmarked boxes loaded into millions of semi-trucks. The government having access to our phone info is like knowing they have access to those millions of trucks and packages within each of them. But they still must go through each truck and open every little box. That’s still horrible that they have that info, but the sheer volume of it at least helps.

Seeing our push notifications in real time is like having each package and truck numbered and the contents itemized for each truck. They can easily search through the itemized lists, go directly to the truck and select the box.

It makes real time tracking worlds easier as they can more easily flag things of interest.

Does it make sense now?

There’s a difference between asking and accessing iMessage is end to end encrypted which means apple can’t see your message they have been asked by the head nursing home for customer data and refused

I doubt that the content of a notification is visible. Apple/google just sends a signed command to the phone without content. Maybe this changed in the last years but when i last applied for a push certificate it was the case
