I absolutely love this!

It serves as a brilliant 'crash course' on homeschooling while being intentional about shaping your child’s upbringing with strong Islamic values from an early age...truly embodying the idea of "catching them young." At the same time, it pushes you as a parent and an individual to reflect deeply on your own core values and question whether you're ready to challenge yourself in meaningful ways.

This resonates with me on so many levels, and I’m so glad I stumbled upon it.

Thank you for sharing this with everyone and May Allah (SWT) put barakah in all that we do.

Lovely conversation. Learned a lot about homeschooling. The word you're looking for is 'clique'. Cliques are the bane of traditional school systems. Those cliques children form in schools have more negatives than positives imo. I didn't like them while in school and never joined one. Cliques are an echo chamber of teenage behavior and the foundation of excluding other children based on some social attributes. All in all... I like Ms. KofarNaisa's view of what socialization.

This is a beautiful piece—I learnt a lot from it. This topic is debatable: homeschooling? For how long? How structured is it? How diverse is the teacher? What about extracurricular activities? And what about exhaustion on the part of the teacher?

It seems like we've all been “homeschooling” our children since birth—with no time limit. We've instilled values, morals, *deen*, and much more.

I also don’t agree with the notion that “socialization can’t occur in the classroom.” Children learn in so many ways—through observation, association, and more. In fact, we even advocate for children with special needs to be with peers of the same age, rather than in “special schools.”

Learning goes far beyond “dos” and “don’ts.”

Alhamdulilah... You said it all my dearest sister in Islam. When TAGWA lives at home from d unset, the children will easily follow suit. May Allah grant us the abilities on how to raise up SADAKATUL JARIYA Children that will enhance light & ease in our graves when we pass away. Allahuma Aamin

I never thought I was going to finish the watch to the end.
Great interview.
Love the thought process in the guest speaker.
This goes a long way to show the stark difference on studying how to think - metacognition - critically vs studying to get certificates and degrees.

The main concern I have with homeschooling is external validation. I have taught kids who were home schooled and they inherit the blindspots of their parents. Homeschooling is more ideal with a community of people that project their skills and values. They touch on this here. However, most people are unable to find the time to create this alignment with the rest of the society. Naturally that fragmentation is costly especially at scale. This alignment is one of the primary reasons governments handle schooling.
