Don't be too hard on yourself Mitch, you may not have gotten the exact level of cleanliness you wanted on the engine but it still looks 100% better than when you first opened it. The owner should be amazed at how you got this filthy mess when it arrived to the beautiful masterpiece it is when he picked it up. Excellent work as

Definitely need more videos like these where you show and explain how you do things step by step.

Your attention to detail on an area of the car most people never say is inspiring.

I'm not crazy about disconnecting the battery. I would use a battery memory saver. I would also wrap the alternator with a plastic bag to prevent water getting into it.

I been detailing cars for a Chevy dealership for over 20 years! When i detail an engine bay, cool engine i soak everything down with a degreaser, pretty much mean green if you want to get into the ingredients lol, soak it down and let it stand a few min, then powerwash it good, steadily rinsing the fenders when needed, after the hot water powerwash, i use compressed air to blow off any water pools, start the motor and close the hood, let it run till its built plenty of heat, then while its running powerwash again, alot of block grease will come off easier when its hot, then again with compressed air and your all good, no conditioner or anything on the plastics, all it does is collect dirt and cooks the plastics!!

Finally...a detailer who disconnects the battery, safety first Mitch...all too often I see tow in's from detailers to my auto shop because of weird electrical issues after an engine bay cleaning.

I think you did a fantastic job on that engine bay. 14 years of crud and grease did not come off easy. The amount of cleaner used was a lot, but it did the job. Using the right tools and the right chemicals sure makes a difference. The fact that you repeated your process a couple of times is a testament to your dedication to your skill and talent. That was fun to watch. The leaf blower is such a smart way to get all that water away quickly. Thanks for making this for us Mitch. I just changed out by brake light which is why I was late to this party. Have a great weekend Mitch!!!!

I think it was you cleaning engine bays early on in your YouTube or IG days that I originally started to follow you. Awesome to see another video of you doing these. Thank you!

Great job Mitch, when I detailed cars or trucks, I would detail the engine and the underside of the hood .I would use degreaser and water plus a blower or crank up the engine and the engine heat dry the engine .I didn’t brush the engine bay some . As a finishing touch I use Trim shine to give the engine a fresh new look !

Absolutely love engine bay cleaning! One question: wouldn't be better/safer to take the battery entirely out to clean it's bay and the battery itself better?

Also, I wouldn't mind to have an engine a little bit dirtier, after all it's not a brand new car... for mechanical purposes, clean the engine bay would help find oil leaks, so focus on the block, heads and gaskets is already super helpful!

Great video! Just watched one of your detailing videos and love the fact you don’t over-narrate and you speak in common conversational language… Most guys on detailing channels talk waaaay too much and they use language to try and sound smarter than they are😂…..cheers!

I find with older cars there's just too much scale build up in the engine bay which may look like dirt but actually isn't. For that reason I use something like a waterspot remover or acid cleaner like FCL from koch chemie and an iron remover for the metals, super effective in getting that last 20%.
