The Michael Jackson effect. He was the orchestrator of his mystique and then struggled to live with the consequences of that illusionist persona. He apparently used to get a little agitated when people would freak out when stumbling upon him and ask him things like 'is that really you?!' and he would think: well I have to be somewhere...why wouldn't I be here? He became so otherworldly in the eyes of others that unless they were grounded, they treated him like some sort of apparition.

Before cell phones and living in California I met a few famous people and it was usually at a restaurant or grocery store, etc. I met them by accident without approaching them and asked for nothing. They are people living their lives and I didn’t want to intrude on that. We talked like I would with anyone new to us. It is always better to meet the real person rather than the “star persona”. 🙂
An example: while having dinner with my friend for her 18th birthday everyone began singing. Robin Williams and his wife were at a table near us and he came up to the table and began singing with us. He lived in our town. When the singing ended we said hello and all talked about how we loved that restaurant and the neighborhood. He was a very nice man.

I think Gaga played a huge role on my mentality. I genuinely think of things with this perspective cus she taught us to appreciate art but also to understand it's art and behind it there's a human being just like us with struggles just like us. It's very weird but it taught me to be pushy but humble (?) What a great idol to follow.
It makes me REALLY proud how "well" she aged.
