Leaving standing water in a carpet for longer than 2-3 days, will 100% cause a damp musky smell or even mould/fungus growth.
If the carpet is as saturated as shown here, the only way to prevent that is to use a shop vac to extract as much water fron the dapet, then lift the carpet, bin the underlay, dry out the underfloor, replace underlay with new and finish drying carpet off the floor, ideally outside etc for 1-2 days
