I often find that getting a hot fire going quickly is a real challenge in the outdoors. Especially when you are near the coast, up in the mountains, after a rain, or in wet, snowy conditions. This method always works for me and it is my favorite and tried and true method of drying out wet wood fast! Thanks for watching, please leave your comments below!

I do the same thing and I've never seen any other video that shows this. Love your channel.

Thanks for this! I have a smaller fire pit in my backyard and larger wood to dry out, so a couple days ago I kind of did this as best I could. I formed a sort of 3/4 chimney, but I wasn't very sure of my method. Watching this bolstered my confidence in my method, so thanks!

I've used this before. I'll also make a ring around the fire with any bigger pieces to let them be drying as well and just keep rolling them to let the heat hit all sides. It definitely works!

In the case of having wet wood, it's also a good idea to split it down as the wood on the inside is always going to be dryer regardless of the weather, provided the wood isn't rotten mush. If u have way to split it, then that's a good idea also, especially for thicker logs, it gets u a more substantial heat source, quicker, which may save and preserve life. 👍👍

Another helpful thing to help dry out the wood, is: a) remove the bark. b) split the wood.

Good vid for overnight but would like to see a long term strategy like a perpetual fire sustained by dry wood that the fire dries and can be used later. Thanks
