I've heard a writing tip that you need to be careful with holding back on some big reveal or twist, because you might think it'll be this mind-blowing moment for the audience when it's finally revealed, but what you might actually be doing is holding back the information that will give the audience the reason to care about the story. I feel like this is the ultimate example of why you should keep that advice in mind.
