watch this video after you have done your ccv to clear all oil that has been sucked in to the combustion chamber as a result of ccv failure to clear all your oil and clean your sticking oil control rings which will make you lose power and also cause more burning oil problems if not treated and cleaned

So far you are the only person telling us not to put spark plugs right after pouring the additive. Thank you man.

1) why would you put it back together just to remove it again?
2) with the angle aspect of the cylinders, The small amount of the red stuff is only going to affect the low side of the piston.
3) you can use a vacuum pump to remove the fluid. Just flood em and then suck em. then do the start routine with the towel
4) Doing this on a warmed up engine can increase the effectiveness.
5) you have to change the oil straight away after this treatment, or any other piston soak.

I did give you a thumb up because the info is all over the map on YT and it all counts. thanks for posting your results.

Hi, I treid your process this week on my car. The next when I started, as you mentioned that it will smoke, that was exactly what happen. After about 10 min into idle, my car started to idle very smoothly like it used to a few years back. I n54 has it power back, thanks to your video.👍👍👍👍

Finally found an in-depth video on this process. Thank you so much for doing this and filming every step. I'm about to replace my cracked CCV and I had to find a video on how to actually do this cylinder cleaning. I really appreciate you taking the time to show this from start to finish

Damn that leaked down right past the rings in 12 hours (nothing came out on your towel) Love the bimmers myself but the slant pistons/deck in this instance means it all just drained pass the low side of the piston and cylinder wall. Next time pull the vehicle onto car ramps just on the right side (right side front and rear wheel) that will get the pistons facing more near vertical orientation so the cleaner may drain pass the piston rings evenly all the way around.

That’s a very good video mate! I usually use a plastic syringe with a rubber hose, I really enjoyed your other video on how people don’t know how to diagnose and repair BMW’s
I am a Volkswagen Audi guy and if I get a BMW I will pass it on to a friend to sort out as he is a BMW specialist I have missed diagnose stuff on them before! Good content and keep them coming ! but if you don’t mind me saying I think you should talk a lot slower and clearer as a lot of your viewers are from America and I don’t think they understand what you are saying
No problem for me I’m from London! but it would make it easier for the other guys over the pond

I've been using Redex for more than 50 years on my cars and motorbikes.I always add Redex to my tank every time I fill up.I have never has issues with stuck rings, carbon build up etc.Redex works unlike the snake oil stuff that's sold as the miracle cure all such as Seafoam and the like.I'm old enough to remember when all petrol stations had a hand held Redex pump, you paid 1 old penny a shot for your Redex and you could blow your tyres up for free.Happy days!

The amount of smoke that came out of my 328i filled the street with white smoke for about the length of a football field with berrymans b12. It cleaned my oil sensor so now it's working properly again. Also not burning a drop of oil and no oil burning smell. I couldn't be more happy. I used my tools and a bore scope. I just did a 8 hour soak. Topped off Then rinse flushed out the spark plug holes. The amount of carbon was monstrous. Although the crankcase is in pristine condition meaning this car had normal oil changes before I bought it in March. I couldn't be more happier. Next is ultrasonic cleaning the fuel injectors.

good job on washing the rings..its a good idea!..I'm glad you mentioned to do oil change because the injector cleaner will be harsh on the bearings if you don't change!..

This is a very good video. I learnt a lot from you mate. Thank you for continuing to make such quality bmw content. I also love your down to earth approach. You say things as they are mate 🤜🤛

Redex used to have instructions on the back of the bottle for 3 different ways to use it.
1: pour in tank.
2:pour slowly through carburetor with engine running.
3: fill cylinders with 20 mls of redex and allow to stand for 40mins. Then turn over engine to dispel redex and replace spark plugs.

I'm not sure why they stopped listing these instructions, maybe it was due to fuel injection becoming more popular than carburetors, but it was definatley on the bottle and it worked well.

I used to use this redex stuff way back in the 1980s when my car had a lot of pre ignition carbon build up, causing the engine to keep running roughly for a little while when i turned the ignition off because the high amount of carbon was hot enough to keep the engine roughly running for a short while. When i poured this stuff down my carburettor with the idle screwed turned up to make the engine run faster smoke billowed out like crazy. After that I never had pre ignition again good to see its still around.

Could you not pull the dme fuse for the fuel pump or injectors so they don’t fire when you crank the car to remove cleaner?

Yet another production from the DOC. What an education your videos are doc. Have learnt many things from your video. Great, valuable information and advice. Thank you Doc.

Would it not be advisable to lift up the right (driver in UK, passenger in US) side of the vehicle to level the pistons and make sure that cleaner does not pile up on just the lower side of the pistons?

We could try to start the car without sparks? We need only to cover the spark wholes. The injector cleaner pass through the rings and mixed with oil Carter? Right?

Hello. My N46B20 engine has no oil leaks, new valve stem seals, and a new crankcase ventilation system (PCV), yet it still burns oil — about 1 liter per 5, 000 kilometers. Compression was measured on a hot engine: 14, 14, 13.5, and 12.5 bar. The exhaust is black from oil. Is it possible that the piston rings are stuck?
