Siri Shortcuts Tutorial: Good Morning!

Ever wanted to start experimenting with Siri Shortcuts, but didn't know where to start?

Welcome to the first episode in the HeyTechi series on Siri Shortcuts tutorials!

In this video, you're going to learn how to set up a 'Good Morning' Siri shortcut which will:

-Play through your HomePod/HomePod Mini
-Wake you up with a custom greeting
-Turn on the lights using HomeKit
-Read out the date
-Read out the weather forecast for the day
-Read the main news headlines
-Turn on a radio station on Apple Music

This video is designed for beginners/novices to Siri Shortcuts, but those of you with a little more experience might benefit too!

UPDATE: OCTOBER 2021: So something seems to have gone wrong for a lot of you trying this - I believe one of the later iOS14 updates has changed something which means that Setting Playback Destination to the HomePod Mini isn't connecting as it should. I'm working on a solution and will update ASAP! In the meantime, just be aware, Siri will only play through your iPhone...

Great intro to shortcuts. I’ve rapidly built up a SmartHome and recognize that adding new products will now consume less of my time but automating they home to take use of all of the tech is where I need/want to focus. This video was great as you’ve explained the reason for adding each step and not just that it should be added. Nice tutorial, all good but, will not play this on HomePod mini. All the test is output on iPhone. Only radio is played on mini… Any fix available?

Hi! I set everything up as you did execpt i set up a calendar and a not the lights, everything seems fine, the text plays on my iphone and than the radio plays on the homepod. What can be the issue?

I had set up the Good Morning shortcut on my iPhone. However, the playback is always on my phone and not on my HomePod mini. I don’t know what part did I do wrong.
