I live in Germany. What is never mentioned in the German toilet scaremongering: Every restaurant (except very small ones) must by law provide toilets for its guests and (although legally possible) I have never seen in 50 years and in hundreds of restaurants that you had to pay for it.

I spent 3 weeks in Munich last year. 1 week during the Wiesn and 2 weeks in Nov-Dec and I fell in love with this city. Munich does make you happy, there is something in the air. I loved the locals that I met and no they were nothing like the stereotypes that is perpetuated of Germans that they are rude. They were friendly and helpful and kind to me. My favorite time was exploring all the Christmas markets especially the medieval market near Odeonsplatz and tying all sorts of food and drinks. The biergartens and all the local beer, I would just visit again only for the beer. My favorite was the Augustine beer hall near Hackerbrücke. And I was lucky to visit during snow which made the whole city look like a dream. I couldn't visit this year and I miss the Christmas markets but I will hopefully be back next year. Love Munchen <3

Edit : Oh and forgot to mention about the superb public transport. All the S-bahn and U-Bahn make life so easy and you can even go to Salzburg in 2 hrs (which I did of course). I miss Munich.

Your original Loves & Hates about Munich video was actually my first Wolter's World video! I was curious about Munich, and I watched a lot of your videos since then!

I am a Munich local and I try to avoid the city center and the pedestrian zone whenever possible. Honestly, I would never think of going out to eat there. There are so many nice places to eat in the neighbourhoods where you don't have to book in advance. Many restaurants also offer lunch specials, which are usually really good value.
In restaurants, pubs, cafés, museums etc. the restrooms are always free and you don't have to pay for them. Sometimes, beergardens take a little fee (especially on weekends), but on the other hand, you can bring your own food and stay as long as you like and are not forced to consume.

A mid-February Wednesday morning was perfect for me to tour the city without bumping into people. Once Saturday hits, everyone is out and about.

My family went to Munich a few years ago. We really enjoyed the BMW complex and the Olympic Stadium area.

We loved going to the Englischer Garten
(In winter) and watching the river surfing. So much fun.

Mark, an Awesome video of one of my favorite cities. Munich makes me happy without a doubt. One of these days we will run across each other there as I visit Munich at least twice a year :)

Hey Mark, I think we just missed you in Munich and Salzburg. Thank you so much for your videos. I’m not sure we’d have gone abroad without watching all your videos. It gave my wife and I a lot more confidence. Happy Holidays!

I loved Munich! After having visited both Berliin and Munich, I find I'm the outlier who liked Munich better. Cleaner streets, better public transport-when it works. Only bad thing was the decade long work on the Hauptbahnhof which involves a lot of walking and confusion. And give yourself plenty of time when traveling by train. Every ICE train was delayed by at least 1/2 hour. Don't plan too much on travel days.

Love Munich!! was there for 4 days in August. Did many of the "Tourist Things", Marien Platz, English Garten and the Chinese Tower beer garden. Watch the surfers in the park, too. Visit many of the churches and cathedral in central Munich. Day trip to Oberammergau and Neuschwanstein Castle.
One of the best things was our visit to Hofbräuhaus. We found an unoccupied long table and sat down. Two young men ask if they could sit with us and we said, yes. Also, a couple ladies sat down with all of us. The guys were from Austria and the ladies were from Netherlands. Good conversation in English, a few beers and great food. I got up and ask our waiter to bring us 3 serving of apple strudel with ice cream, a few more beers and add it to my bill.
The funny part is the waiter first look at me as "what do you want, I'm busy". Then glance at the table, then gave me a nod and a grim, yes.

Open and free but with checkers. Like Calgary Alberta. Thanx for your video's Wolter. You've really helped me navigate where I'm going. I'm going for a few days in January or late February so hopefully it isn't too bad. I'm there for beer and architecture and doner kabobs, can't wait. One thing I'm learning fast (New York helped with this) is eat street food if you want to save money. Easier when you're solo like me. Peace to you and your family.

We had a great time in Munich last December. The Christmas markets there are amazing. We got caught up in a 17 inch snowstorm and had to stay an extra two days. It was amazing. It made for some great content on our channel.
