I'm back with a review for another Clint Eastwood movie. The Outlaw Josey Wales was released in 1976 and is also directed by Eastwood. This is also the first film to partner Eastwood with actress Sondra Locke. The two would go on to make 6 films with each other in total.

Outside the Leone trilogy Josey Wales has always been my favourite of Eastwood's westerns (yes even Unforgiven though that's amazing too). One of the cornerstones of Eastwood's amazing career and also one of his best Directorial pieces. Totally agree the character work is fantastic, and i have always appreciated how dirty, and brutal the film is throughout.
Great cameo's at the end of your review there :)

I've been meaning to rewatch this one for awhile. As always bryan great review 👍
Edit: just a quick thought on Eastwood people always think of him as the leading man and as a great actor I always feel his writing and direction credit goes a little under the radar

I agree with your assessments. I also didn't like the r*pe scene. We all would've gotten the jist of what happened without the nudity. But, in this movie Hollywood finally portrayed American Indians as people who have a sense of humor and individual personalities who aren't just one dimensional raiders. I know someone who still utilizes the "don't tell me it's raining" bit on a regular basis.

How much do you think you and Cody would need to make an independent movie ?

Looks like you have your own attack of little outlaws!

Its chief dan george's film for me. Its not as explosive as other Eastwood westerns. Its more artsy and epic imo. Top tier western though.
