Actually the reason we are careful with mediums and add scepticism, is for a couple of reasons.

First we have other spiritual guides saying these mediums are playing with demons and not actually contacting your parents. So it's two spiritual people making claims, one very bad and one something you want. First reason to be adding scepticism and wanting extra caution.

Then, usually a medium is wanting you to pay them for their services. If someone comes along saying all the things you want to hear, but says it's gonna cost you money, you'd be wise to be sceptical before jumping on the try it out train. Because many people are out there selling snake oil.

But in the case of Christianity, firstly it doesn't cost you to believe that an all knowing all loving essence of reality is behind all things making no suffering without warrant and all good things reconciled back to reality and doing away with all bad things. It costs nothing to believe, there's no bad reason to believe this, in and of itself, forget religions you may find sell additional bad things, and so if it only helps and it's satisfying to your entire being, why wouldn't you believe it?

Logical problem. You want X so you need to be more sceptical that X is true. But you want all that you think to be true to be true (unless you want to believe a lie) so you need to be more sceptical of all things. Thanks.
