As much as I love my baitcasting setup, there's no denying the versatility of spinning gear.

After years of only baitcasting I’m now finding the perfect rod reel for what I want in spinning rod combos. This video helped a lot

The Alberto knot is very good for this application as well I think it’s easier to tie than the Albright and the Alberto is very small

Personally I have been fishing for 25 years of my life and for 24 of those years I used berkley trilene big game monofilament on all my spinning reels. Then for a year I used braided fishing line on all my spinning reels and then recently I just switched back to berkley trilene big game monofilament. And my reasoning for switching back to monofilament 1. I am very proficient with monofilament fishing line so even with the benefits of braided fishing line I really don't see a difference in how many fish I catch so the benefits don't really outweigh the extra cost. 2. I can get 6, 000 yards or a 1 lb spool of berkley trilene big game monofilament for $34 whereas that same amount of money would only get me 600 yards of braided line at the most. 3. Monofilament line is a battle-tested line that's been around since the beginning of modern fishing and there's really nothing wrong with it as long as you use line conditioner before and after each fishing trip you won't have problems with line twist, line memory, or any of the other crap. And the reason I advocate for berkley trilene big game monofilament so much is because it's really the best monofilament I have found for spinning reels anyway that's all I had to say hope this helps some people not waste money on unnecessary braided fishing line.

Just wanted to comment because I found this video after searching for the video game Braid coming to Nintendo Switch. I thought it was hilarious that it included this video because of the keywords. Smart. 🤣

I started using braid about 20+ years ago and then started putting it on my spinning reels. Then put it on my ultra lite spinning reels over 15 yrs ago. finally settled on Spider wire braid and have never changed it and still can not break it, even though it has faded white. Usually have six rods laying on the deck.
Only thing is carry a piece of wood to wrap around line to pull line with when hung up. Never pull hard with bare hands, will cut you and you will probably not break it with bare hands either.
Old Bass fisherman well over 70 now :-(

FG knots a game charger.Knot will always break at the terminal knot saving me from tying a new leader. I make sure the breaking strain of my braid is higher then the leader.

My braid of choice is fins shock absorber, a real good braid. Give it a try, i believe people will be impressed. 🎣

I use it and I really do like it a If you get hung up in a tree fishing for tree bass as I do a lot. The line won't break as easy... And I use 80 lbs on my catfishing poles too..
