Hey bud, I know wood work and I must say you did a darn good job on that fence. I appreciate you taking the time to share your knowledge on fence building. I actually plan on doing my fence here in about 3 weeks. Was looking at getting some ideas. Im going with this one, but plan to throw in some corrugated sheets to make it pop.

always do it from the bottom up. set the 1st board make it level. then use a spacer the size of your desired space. you set the spacer on the previous board and set the next. never having to remeasure always being fast and 100% accurate

You mentioned the "ledger" was by accident since your planks were too short. It lets you mount the planks on the side of the post instead of the front... Which I think is a good look and it seems intentional. What was your original plan? Mount to the front face of the post?

As much as I am a big fan of horizontal fence panels, I am afraid these wood planks would curl, twist or bend over time making it noticeable. I was thinking you would put some additional vertical wood planks between the posts to prevent that.

How are they holding up after 5 years?
