When I journal I have a song for the day, I describe a texture, smell or feeling I had in the most important moment of the day so when I read back I can have more context

It's like time travel it's almost like you're reliving that time of your life, could really feel the person you were back then.

That's actually a really interesting and new way to keep track of memories, and I think it can be very useful. I also strongly associate songs with memories, sowriting them down would be a game changer. Would. If I actually sit down and write them. Never was the diary person, but I do write when I feel a rush of emotions, and rereading those journal entries also help relive moments :)

I just make a new playlist every month. Then if I want to go back and remember some certain part of my life I play that playlist and it's extremely powerful

As one who struggles with memory issues due to my military service, this gives me a spark of an idea anyway in how to document my life. I've worked with people with dementia as a CNA in a nursing home and it is not a fun journey for these people. I've found that journaling helps a lot in remembering a little, if nothing else how irrational I was in my thinking when struggling with my mental health. Journaling when upset or angry really helps also, as it gets my feelings out so I don't pop a gasket. I can make it into a long prayer and it really helps.

i listened to a playlist while on a roadtrip and when i listen to it now it immediately brings back the memories and feelings, happens with the short books i read on that trip too.

The single most important youtuber/ creator i know of. As well as being utterly beautiful in terms of colour and cinematics to watch. Theres always a message of self help and deeper meaning or enrichment. Enables connection on levels ive not experienced on any other channel. Huge fan Jake. 👏

I have said this before, I am in my 50s and I certainly have learned a lot more than just photography from you- I too also take many pictures of my family and myself and spend most of my income in creating memories.- Why? well, When I am on my death bed I don't want to remember or think about the things I purchased or acquired. I want to be thinking of all the moments and memories and events with my family and friends while listening to music.

Every year since 2017, I’ve been making a playlist of all the songs I play on repeat throughout the year. Every time I go back to those songs, a hundred memories and emotions associated with those songs come flooding back. And if I feel good in a moment, I’ll put on a song to capture that feeling forever. It’s incredible what music can do 🖤

Damn this one hits home. Watching my grandma have her mind destroyed by dementia is breaking me. It’s crazy how she can remember random small details from the past, but can’t remember what she just said. She’s listened to Swiss yodeling bands for decades so I’m definitely going to try and see it that music will trigger different memories for her. Thanks Jake!

Every time I hear a song I used to love I'm immediately brought back to the memories during that period. It's so strong and powerful.

I use Day One Journal for writing down my life and the day-to-day minutiae, and have done so for nearly a decade now! I love watching videos like this because it gives me new ways to think about how to capture my life as I live it, and how to remember people, places, feelings, and so on from days long gone. It offers me the ability to really dig into my memory and think about what more I could add to the contextual narratives of my lives as I've lived them.

Thank you for this wonderful creation, and may your memories continue to flourish and subsist how you wish them to.

So true! My dad is a music therapist, and he works everyday with people who have dementia and alzheimer's, and some of the stories that he has are amazing. Music is super powerful.

You two sides of social media, the negative, distraction side and the little positive side. You're on the positive side and I think you help a lot of people with your video's!

I have been doing something similar for more than three years, I’ve been creating a playlist in my phone for each month of each year and added the songs that I discovered that month and mostly listened at that time. Totally worth it, now I can remember what I used to listen back in 2019 and what you said, the feelings and experiences I had and why I listened those songs at that time, I totally recommend this.
