In this video I set up a mini pc to be my new Plex Server/File Server/PVR. The pc I'm using is an HP Elite Desk G3 with an i5-7500T and 8GB RAM.

I can't wait until HP updates the chassis model for that PC with the Zen 3 Mobile APU's with an RDNA3 iGPU- 1L PC gaming is is going go be awesome. Also- nice find on the 4TB SSD!

1:25 not sure why everybody says you need to remove the tray.... just remove the middle plate with the 2 small screws, that's what it's there for, to act like a door.

Nice. Im gonna set this up too with an old pc. Currently have Plex server on a Raspberry Pi 3B+, but the performance is not good enough.

I have that model. You may want to replace the top cover with the version which has two large areas areas of small holes. I found my unit would shutdown from heat when running for long time.. These units come with 35 or 65 watt CPUs mine is a 35 watt unit The well vented top cover came with the higher wattage CPUs. Good luck and thanks.

Have a similar setup with my Mini Dell but I use 2 - 6 gb external hard drives (USB 3). Also have a internal 1 tb drive I use for recording in Plex for my HDhomerun and MVMe as a boot drive. Serves me well now for almost 2 years. Only had one issue with it when the power went out and forgot to set it to come back on. :) I also have it set to reboot every night to ensure reliability with Windows 10. Have you tried using a external USB C drive?

this was great up until 9:21 where you add qbittorrent then dont show the pop up menu, what is the host? ip address? i'm stuck there it says cant connect to qbittorrent. is this an issue with the VPN?

Have nas running on HP ProLiant MicroServer N36L its running hard to transcode one movie.

Could i use on of these or a nuc to transcode remotely from the nas? Same site but plex not running on server?

Have you run into any transcoding issues for various file types when watching remotely outside of your home network, such as x265 HEVC?

too bad you didnt get one with a 8500t, they have better hardware transcoding in Plex - great machine though.
