My Mini PC makes for a great Plex Media Server!

I had been looking into setting up a Plex Media Server for a while and finally settled on using the Mini PC approach. Yes, this is just a no frills setup - but this Beelink computer is quiet (silent), small and convenient and does a fine job!

You should note that for hardware transcoding you need an Intel CPU that supports QuickSync, and this feature is only for PlexPass subscribers. Plex has some AMD hardware transcoding but its very patchy / fiddly and I've never got it to work with my other Ryzen PC's.

Great video, found it really useful. This video would be very useful for people you have a newer Synology NAS as they are using AMD CPUs now so transcoding isn’t great on them. I have a Synology 1019+ but found that sometimes I get a warning from Plex saying it isn’t powerful enough to transcode some videos, so I’ve found this very useful. Might transfer my Plex server to a little PC like this

You mentioned you have the Plex Pass, so I assume you are using hardware transcoding. For people who didn't pay for the Plex Pass, can the U59 processor handle multiple software transcoding in 4K, 1080p?

I`m pretty much using my Desktop to run Plex as well as everything else but I`m wanting to some day switch to a lap top so that means no Plex. I`m going to start looking for a mini PC

I am very intrigued with this as I have three mini computers one B link one Acer Revo and I’m more interested in. How are you set it up I’m an old geezer but I’m interested in TechStuff cameras and all that sort of stuff and this is sort of, I’m sure it’s not beyond my capabilities, but it’s something that’s new when they talk about all of these different things on your smart telly and it’s it’s a bit overwhelming in trying to get to grips with it so I’d be very interested in finding out more about how you set it up what the requirements are and I think you’ll be brilliant video for you to do on YouTube that a lot of people would be interested in anything if you have the tide is that with simple guidelines you’d get a lot of interest.
