Employers are expecting you to follow-up 7-10 business days after your interview.

Be brief, professional and to the point in your follow-up. Emphasize your interest in the position and ask any additional questions you may have about the job or company.

Following up after an interview or dropping off a resume will make you a more memorable candidate to the employer.

That's exactly why you should follow up - because if you're waiting on them and they are waiting on you, no one is doing anything! I'd always follow up with an email or through social media, then maybe a phone call 2 weeks after you've applied to check on the status of the hiring process for the position.

Louis - Are you looking up the company on their website? You should be able to find a phone number or email address, especially if they have a dedicated careers page. Another opportunity is to search for the company via social networks and connect with recruiters there and let them know you applied online and you'd like to follow up about a possible interview.

Following up.When I connect via CareerBuilder and apply for a job, I am on a corporate website that has me apply and take a test or two but gives no info on following up. I try going by the location I applied to work at but they don't always know I've even applied. The website that took the application has no contact name or e-mail. How do I follow up?

Send a handwritten thank you card directly to the person who interviewed you. Keep it short...
