At big employers, I like to ask inside baseball questions about the interview process. Since the interview is already done, they're more willing to reveal things like how the answers are evaluated, or which questions were unscored.

This is extremely useful information if you ever have an interview for a different position at the same organization.

Okay, bear with me here: "If I were to start today (fully trained - if applicable), what concrete tasks would you give me?"
I noticed SO OFTEN that how a job is described in writing and how the manager describes it can be SOOOO different, and it is SUCH an important thing! I didn't ask this in the past and I had a job that I only lasted 2 months in and cried the whole time because the description was so general, I didn't ask that question, and it turned out that what they wanted me to do was completely outside of my skills set, experience, and comfort zone. It's such a basic question, but I refuse to believe I'm the only one who started a job and was surprised to find out what it actually was.

I asked my interviewer about her journey working her way up in the company and she got excited and talked me through her journey. At the end she thanked me for asking her that. It was a nice way to connect on a personal level and I still feel we have a good connection 2 years later!

A question I always ask that gets a good response is: “is there anything right now about my application that would make you think it is not a match, just so I can maybe clarify something about your concern? Always gets a good response and usually I can clarify some things after that

I like to ask "what does your perfect candidate look like/think of someone who filled this role perfectly. what did they do that impressed you?" this gives you an opportunity to make you look good, because you can provide examples of your own talent to match their idea.
another is "do you have any reservations about hiring me?" which can give you a chance to assuage any doubts they could have about you.

Here's a question I once was asked:
If a supervisor asks you to do something and another supervisor tells you to do the opposite, what do you do?
My answer:
Why? Does this happen often at your company?😂

My issue is usually that I have questions prepared and then they answer them during the interview… I usually say something like “you’ve answered all the questions I’ve had” lol. They’re usually aware when they’ve given you a lot of info

"what do your best employees in this position do?" -then elaborate about how you feel you compare to those qualities
"how about your worst employees?"
-again, elaborate.

Try to put yourself in a positive light, but it's also good too be self aware on a couple items you aren't perfect at, as well as sharing how you will counteract that negative. This will help them imagine you succeeding in the position and show that you are willing to own up to and correct your flaws.

These two questions got me a job once, because I showed that I cared about doubt well at the position.

I also like asking "what feedback will I get? How will I know whether I'm succeeding in this position." Because then I won't be as anxious once I get the job.

I simply ask:
1. What are some challenges the team faces in the upcoming quarter?
2. How co-located is the team? If Hybrid working, how many days in the office/week?
3. Do you have a date in mind for when you want this role to be filled by?
4. When can I hear back with an update on the outcome?

^ I got the job offer in the end! 🤫

My favorite question to ask is "What made you, my interviewer, choose this company? What keeps you here?" this is a great way to get a personalized insight into the company from a more objective viewpoint. Also "What's your favorite project you've worked on while here? Can you tell me a bit about what made it special to you?" this again helps the interviewer give you a peek behind the curtain into what might make the company tick a bit and what sort of projects to look forward to.

I always ask the question "Why do you enjoy working for Company?" People love talking about themselves, you seem interested in the company culture and learn more about the culture, day-to-day or any cool initiatives the company has.

Another one is "What is the biggest challenge of this role?" Shows that you are thinking ahead and serious about the role and gives you an opportunity to reiterate how you can use your skills to overcome those challenges

I watch this interview this morning for my interview that was two hours ago. I got the job on the spot and start next week.!! Thank you so much 😊 (I think the most important thing is to stay honest, and positive throughout the interview)

Great video! I love❤ your advice and plan to add it to my 'career arsenal'. I've found the following four questions have worked well for me over the years:

1. What are some things I can do to be successful in this position?
2. How is my performance evaluated?
3. How are mistakes treated?
4. Based on our conversation, do you feel I would be a fit for your position?

#4 is my favorite, because no matter how they answer it let's me know where I stand with them—if they like you they have no problem answering in the affirmative (i.e "Yes, we think you might be a good fit") Even if they do end up not choosing you, you at least know you did well.

If they don't like you, their answer will be non-committal (i.e. "We have others to interview", "It's not up to me", "We'll get back to you", etc). This at least let you know they weren't sold on you.

I always ask if there is anything they feel like I could elaborate on anything further, or if there were any concerns in my responses that I could possibly clear up.

I took a job finding class a lot of years ago and one of the tricks they taught us was, if the person doing the interview is the person making the hiring decision, ask to have a tour of where you'll be working(like at the end of the interview as in this video) and this will get the person to visualize you in that environment and influence them in your favor when the decision is to be made.

I asked "What's one task you want me to take off your plate if I am hired?" to the interviewer who was going to my reporting manager. He shared the task. I shared an approach on How I have done that in my past organisation and can use the same approach. Hired.

Asking if a company is going to launch a rival product to keep up with another company only makes you look like a low grade spy

Instead ask what kind of projects you can expect to be part of
That maintains the interest in future developments but does not connect you to a rival company
