This thing reminds me so much of the old Rockford fosgate HX2 subs down to the front gasket, push terminals, massive magnet surrounded in rubber.
Mind you, those woodserts are a great addition. Guess they listened to you guys and paid attention with all your installs

Guy in my town had 4 Kenwood 8s back in the early 90s. They were incredible.

MBEnclosures could probably get you guys a 2 8's box that would kill he's the 2 8's expert! Besides I'd love to see two of my favorite channels Collab!

I love the way you left off the " made in china" part when reading the back label

I had 2 8” Polk mobile monitors that I made my own box and they were amazing. Had almost no space under the seat of my old Honda Ridgeline and they made the most of it.

That thing bangs for an 8”. I need a couple 12’s on my next build.

Did four 8's in a early 2000's blazer on a 600 watts. It did not disappoint. Still had a ton of cargo space left.

Man, that box looks big and heavy. Maybe plywood construction and a 3" to 4" aeroport is the way to go? Smaller, lighter and easily tunable.
Keep up the good work guys! 👍

That is a very well built Subwoofer for the wattage, and the included Subwoofer grille was dope.. 👌

Wow that is amazing! That 8” sub sounds like 4-Sundown 10s while watching this in my truck! 😂

Use wire clamps to support your wires inside the box

Doesn't take much for that car to sound good and get loud.i put a single downfire 12 in my sons 03 g35 on a Rockford 500.1 and it was definitely a great performer.

So is AC going to correct the recommended box specs if the original called for a port 8" too long?

Would be good for a front passenger footwell sealed -sub- woofer to supplement the MIDBASS and fill in those common door-mounted midbass cancellation nulls, but not really a great SUBwoofer due to its high *51Hz Fs* as well as just +/-8.5mm Linear Xmax. Curious to know their Xmech?

I've been waiting for something to dethrone the *Image Dynamics IDQ8 V4* in this price category, but this doesn't look all that convincing (on paper, at least). You can usually find the IDQ8's from $140-$170. They are moreso a SQ subwoofer, but this AudioControl "SPIKE" sure ain't no SPL monster either with just +/-8.5mm Xmax (11/16" Total).

I do like the "looks" of it, however, as well as the integrated grill. 👍 It's just too bad they didn't consider producing DVC versions as well. 😞

My favorite great, but "affordable" 8" subwoofer was the now-discontinued previous version *Polk Audio Mobile Monitor MM840 SVC* which was also Marine Certified and just $119 at the time.

It was designed using FEA computer modeling & optimized for real-world performance using the Klippel Analyzer. It had very low Inductance (Le) and a nice, reasonably low Fs of 35Hz for an 8" subwoofer. Also a Klippel-verified ONE-WAY Linear Xmax of 19mm (3/4" ONE WAY), and an "ideal" sealed enclosure volume of just 0.35cf.

I found that 0.45cf sealed was more ideal for better Low-End performance (especially when used in multiples to add SPL), and with the Transfer Function of the vehicle ("cabin gain"), the in-car response easily reached down to 25Hz with Authority (remember that 19mm of One-Way Xmax?!) in a very small Sealed enclosure. The F3 and F6 were obviously even lower, getting you down to a usable 20Hz with just a small 8" subwoofer!

The updated and current Polk Audio MM versions are still good, but don't quite compare. Don't know why they thought they had to change them! I wish I had hoarded a bunch of them before they were discontinued. 😞

I wouldn't mind giving these new AudioControl subs a try. However this is a flooded market and there are A LOT of other options in this price range that look at least equal or even better on paper, as well as already having proven real-world performance.

That grille definitely looks like a free grille. These seem like decent subs, just not what I would from AudioControl. When I hear that name I think quality and innovation, but these just seem like average, run of the mill subs.
