Being a composer/beat maker is all about being as creative as you can, I find that a lot of producers nowadays mix and make beats which are great however it is sometimes difficult to separate the two in the production process and usually one of the two will be overlooked.

I have been watching many many videos of you now. Here is my outside perspective. Split your mixing and artist time. They are not the same. Being an artist means be free, creative, inspired, crazy. Take your guitar home and jam on it in the eventing to find new melodies, experiment outside of your studio setting. Break free. Invent great music, then go to your studio and make it sound perfect. I use headphones to search for problems not to mix. They are perfect on that. When it comes to mixing, use them as reference as you would with different environment other than that, they give false info. I love your honesty about music. Big ups!!!

Sometimes you just have to mix with headphones due to not being able to use the monitors, for whatever reason. Here is what I do, and what I think will work for anyone:

Mix in headphones for theory of it, that way when you get to the studio, you can mix for the feel. So no matter what, everything is getting changed one way or the other, but only minor changes. Keep all of your panning, principled. Keep volumes conservative.

I will add; I mixed on a pair of Philips SHP9500s, and the next day, the mix was so good, on the monitors, I literally left everything alone. Those headphones are so amazingly accurate, and it helps me because they have a very similar signature to my Adams F7s.

It has to be your headphones because for me it's the other way, my headphones work better for mastering the track
