Moment emergency alert test goes off at London Marathon

London Marathon runners and spectators were caught out when they heard the government's emergency alert test.

Runners can be seen scrambling for their phones to look and turn off the alert as they finished the race.

The alert test was supposed to be sent to every phone in the country at 3pm on Saturday 23 April.

Its purpose was to notify the country if there is an emergency.

a real emergency just look at sudan the government embassy staff that are there to help in a emergency have all gone left the public they are meant to help in a emergency behind that's what the government do in a real emergency

Check your settings for this. It has the ability to read your sms messages and know what number you are connected to if it goes off during a call. We are sleepwalking into state monitoring. My tablet with no sim and wifi only now shows reception at all times 😮

Go to settings then alerts and you should find how to switch emergency alerts off. Also 3G and older phones won't get it. If you don't want daddy government nannying you every second of your life.
