When I was a little kid up until a few years ago, holiday dinners with relatives and friends were filled with open (and often rowdy) political discussions and debates. We didn’t have to agree with each other: we each had our own opinions and respected each other’s views! Disagreeing with another’s beliefs wasn’t a bad thing!

I would give anything to have those holidays, family members and friends back! Sadly they’re all long gone and I’m the only family member left. I’m so grateful for about fifty years of great memories.

Refusing to spend the holidays with family and friends who voted for Trump or who don’t share the same political views is insane! These small-minded people will never have any memories of spending holidays with their loved ones. Disdain and intolerance will replace all of the good memories they should have had!

Just the thought of everyone being expected to share the exact same political beliefs as everyone else is pretty scary and shows how far we as a society have fallen.

Group-think is not a good thing! Calling for people to refuse the company of their loved ones based on who they voted for is one huge step closer to making Orwell’s 1984 a reality.
