There is a lot of heart breaking Irish songs. They don’t mean much to other people but mean the world to us. 🇮🇪

15 minutes is all they had together and all because he fought for our freedom. We’re very grateful for all they did for us. Thanks so much for being so respectful to this very dear ballad.

That song should be mandatory listening in every school in Ireland.
Rest in peace Jim McCann 🙏🇮🇪

'Oh will they say we failed?' over a century later the story is bringing a woman to tears thousands of miles away. You did not fail Joseph Mary Plunkett. Thank you for giving your life for our freedom. TAL ☘

the fact she took in the importance of this song to our people and culture and also cried as any patriot of the nation would if they heard it tells me enough to know she not only deserves our respect but also our support as we should respect to anybody who gives that amount of respect to our nation and it's history.... i cry every time i hear this song and i'll never be afraid to admit that as to do so would be disrespectful to the jim, the dunliners and joseph plunkett himselfr

Heartbreaking true life story. It shows the commitment of those brave Irish men and women who fought for Irish freedom. U will never be forgotten.

Thank God for these patriotic men and grant them eternal life, the British empire have so much blood on their hands, but these brave men gave their lives so we could have our freedom, this song helps to remember them, love from Cork southern Ireland ☘️☘️☘️

So sad, this is a real story, its what the British Army did to the Irish people fighting for their independence from British Rule, I am a proud Dublin girl.

Jim McCann was a member of the Dubliners from 1974-79, before his solo career. He frequently rejoined the Dubs as a guest performer. This video is taken from their 40th Anniversary concert in 2002. Sadly it was one of his last concerts, because soon after this he permanently lost his voice to cancer. He died in 2015.

The fact She never remarried was just proof of how much they truly loved each other

Thank you island Girl for your appreciation of that most beautiful song, sang by one of Ireland’s brilliant balladeers, sadly no longer with us, but grateful for his beautiful voice & songs .. Jim McCann was his name . Rip .

Irish music is pain, suffering, beauty and joy all in one emotion. Have a look at Sinéad O'Connor singing The Foggy Dew

I grew up beside this Kilmainham jail / gaol and im back living in the area again. I write poetry and this has re inspired me. We too easily forget the magnitude of sacrifice that our people made. I hope the many new people who now call ireland their home will remember our 800 year struggle and value it . Thank you Grace ❤
