Got pulled from a varsity game for changing play at the line of scrimmage first game of my senior year lol coach was a joke. Even scored on the play change but he said “I’m the coach I call the plays, you run them”

I just wish my coaches would call more diverse plays, because all we mostly do is different jet sweeps

This was how Rich Rodriguez created the zone read concept in the early 90s. In Rich’s inside zone play design out of the shotgun, QB was supposed to follow the back through the A gap if the shotgun snap was bobbled, and the handoff timing was off. One day in practice, on the zone read call, the qb bobbled the snap, saw the end crashing down on the back in the A gap. Qb kept the ball and ran outside to the open space where the end just vacated. Rich Rodriguez asked the qb why he did that…qb said the end crashed down and left the outside zone wide open.

Completely changed option offense.

My coach would always have me run go routes because im fast and my qb would sometimes never throw my way witch was a better idea cuz im not open every time, good work coach💯🏈✌️

Sad part about this, it’s not good for the players at all. Because it comes off as favorites & nobody wins in that situation. The QB doesn’t learn how to read defenses & the WR get into a mode of what’s the purpose of running the route knowing the ball is not coming my way 😢😢

We played against a really good team the other day and the right side out reciever had a vertical and everyone else had a slant and my coach wanted me to throw to the vertical route and I threw it (it was a good throw) and he did not catch it and I knew i should have thrown it to the inside left reciver running the slant and the LB came towards me and I should have thrown it to him. Mistakes happen yk
