Five Animating Sensibilities for Evangelization

Friends, in February 2023, we hosted a Word on Fire member event in London. It was one of the highlights of the trip! I reflected on five principles that ground me and are directly reflected in @word-on-fire and the Word on Fire Institute.

John Damascene: Beauty, the first step in transcendentalism.

Bishop Barron truly expresses his faith with such passion, beauty, pragmatic rationalism that is truly infectious. As a Word on Fire member, I thank God for gifting this marvelous evangelist with the ability to excavate through our spiritual barriers and plant the seed of the good, the true and the beautiful. Brilliant! One of the biggest reasons I converted 5 years ago was listening to Bishop Barron talk about faith AND reason (both/and . . .not (either/or). It was also intriguing to me that the same could be applied to Catholicism and science. Thank you, Bishop Barron! I pray the Holy Spirit continues to motivate and inspire you!

You were talking in one of your presentations about addictions. I have to confess I’m addicted to listening to you. It helps me to stay focus and has become a part of my daily routine
Of course praying and Scripture is still my priority this is a wonderful activity. I don’t like watching tv, so this is wonderful

Great insights on evangelization Bishop Barron. As a laity, I would add the sharing of personal conversion testimonies as another tool for evangelization. Pope Paul VI put it most eloquently, "Modern man listens more willingly to witnesses than to teachers, and if he does listen to teachers, it is because they are witnesses."

The beauty goodness and truth thst Bishop Fulton Sheen shared changed my heart for good, but it was you Bishop Barron who leaded me to him, who lead me to Aquinas, I already had deep love for Augustine since 1996 reading his Confessions, thank you so much for this clear guide to your principles underlying your evangelising. 🙏🏻❤️
