We will one day travel faster than light. Just because we can't figure it out now doesn't mean we won't have the answer 20, 50 or 100 years from now. 1000 years ago we were living in mud huts with no lights outside of fires today we have advanced, we have evolved.... our knowledge is going to double or triple in the coming years... we will figure it out...

My answer to the first question is that an object traveling close to the speed of light are heaver because additional acceleration is added to the 4th dimension of space. In other words the more you accelerate at such a velocity, the faster it moves through time. Time is a spatial dimension like the other three, however, you are bound to it as a four dimensional being. Along for the ride you can only experience it's flow while being granted freedom in three. All things in the four-dimensional realm are bound to the fourth dimension this is including light. Things bound to the fifth dimension (if there are such things) are free to move through time both backwards and forwards (T+ and T-). That's just how I see the universe.

What constitutes direction in space? The nearest sun? Gravitational pull? It seems if the four cardinal directions north south west east were not useless they would be joined by up and down. In our galaxy would the center of the spiral be the constant in directional navigation
