I don't understand why the escape velocity for the earth is 25, 000 miles per hour? If you travel at 10 miles per hour you'll eventually escape the earth's gravitational Can someone please help me here

Michio you know what would be great is if when you talk about the climate changing you mentioned the Sun's effect on Earth as well as the cycles it goes through & perhaps just as importantly what effect Magnetic North moving more dramatically has on seasons, which parts of Earth are cold/warm & shorelines. I mean this would change the location of the Earth's "bulge" at the equator also right?

Is it possible that the black hole doesn't crush objects going in but instead streches space and time to where anything going in would not change but stretch then contract back into normal space and time out the other side?
