Their "Silence is Golden" is another good song.

I'm so glad my parents were 60's teens. I would plow through their countless 45 records and play them on my Fischer Price record player all day! And, this was one of them...😊😊

During the Brit Invasion a lot of American bands adopted that style. Among the best were Left Banke- Walk Away Renee’ is a stunner.

This song always sounded like a party going on at that time, people up and dancing and clapping hands. Absolute memory of the times. Silence is Golden is a must listen. ✌️

A favorite for this old timer. "Silence is Golden" is another great tune by the Tremeloes.

The instrument you're hearing is a smaller higher-pitched cowbell (there are various sizes of cowbells - I'm a drummer and I own several) played with the tip of a drumstick - usually, it's played with the butt end of the stick whacked across the side of the bell to get a lower-pitched sound.
The Tremeloes are a great and sometimes overlooked 60s Brit band. I recommend checking out Call Me Number One, which is very mid-to-late period Beatles-influenced. Great video for it, showing the band in the studio and playing outside.

A few more British bands you need to check out are Hermans Hermits, Dave Clark Five, and Gerry & the Pacemakers. And as a side note a great American band that stood toe to toe with the British bands was Paul Revere & the Raiders a very underrated band, give them all a spin.

This British Invasion group actually formed in 1958. In the UK they had 13 hits but in the US they basically had three, this one, Even the Bad Times Are Good, and the biggest one, Silence Is Golden. This song was written by Cat Stevens and was on his Matthew and Son album.

Thanks for listening to some oldies once in a while. I'm 66 so this is some of what listened to growing up.

You should definitely hit Spencer Davis Group sometime, with Steve Winwood on lead vocals. He was 14 years old when he joined the band.

The 60s had some of the greatest music! Silence is Golden would be another one to react to by the Tremeloes.

Yes, I agree with the others about Silence is Golden. Great song.

I couldn’t click on this fast enough. Love their rendition of this early Cat Stevens song.

My favorite Tremeloes song is their cover of The Jaynettes’ “Too Many Fish In The Sea”.

I loved this song as a young teen in the 60's.

Two of the Trems had children who went on to be succesful recording artists too. Brian Poole's daughters were Alisha's Attic, and Chip Hawkes' son Chesney had a massive hit with The One and Only.
Lovely version of Cat Stevens' song.

You've done one song from Herman's Hermits so here are some more: "There's a Kind of Hush", "Mrs. Brown You've Got a Lovely Daughter", "Can't You Hear My Heartbeat" and their covers of "The End of the World" and "Silhouettes (on the Shade)". And I can't forget to mention "I'm Henry the VIII, I Am". You'd recognize this one as the song Sam (Patrick Swayze) sings to Oda Mae (Whoopi Goldberg) to get her to help him in the movie Ghost. 🤣
