Thanks for watching and I hope you subscribe! I’m still figuring out this whole YouTube thing though, so comment if there are questions you have + videos you might be curious to watch!

I’m trying to post daily vlogs and have this be a place where we can talk more deeply about topics that short-form content can’t encapsulate in just 30-90 seconds.

Say hi on social @nadyaokamoto

Listen to Tigress, my podcast!

When I was 11, I was on a competitive soccer team in a tournament in Hawaii. I also happened to get my period on the trip. Second period of my life, I had only ever used pads. My mom wanted me to wear a tampon because A) Pads aren’t great for sports and movement and such, and I had a heavy flow and B) I could go swimming in the ocean with my teammates if I wore a pad. However, I had no idea how to use a tampon and when I tried it hurt (cuz I wants getting it in far enough). So my mother, being the amazing wonderful person she is, did something I can’t ever imagine doing: she put it in for me. In the 90° weather, in some random beach public restroom, she literally put in my tampon for me. That’s next level love y’all. Anyways, it worked- I found out that you do not in fact feel tampons AT ALL if they’re in right, and I’ve been a tampon lover since.

First time I tried a tampon I cried, ran out of the bathroom and told my mom I wish I was born a guy

Dude, why am I getting this talk as a 24 year old girl from a television show. I remember being terrified when I tried as a teen and haven't tried since bc I was never taught. 😢

ive never really understood why using a tampon for the first time is so scary because for me i wasn’t even scared to try it so i did and when i tried it i was amazed it was like a life changer. to all the people who haven’t used a tampon or are to scared to try one ITS OKAY. they might not be for everyone. always remember to love yourself and your body ❤

I also love that it’s an Asian or half Asian daughter where the mother is not 100% the same race as her but is being a GOOD mom who actually WANTS to help!

I. Am TERRIFIED of tampons. I do not trust them as far as I can throw them.

Pads are just so much more comfortable and easier as are period underwear. They don’t hurt if put on wrong, and they don’t have strings that can 50/50!

Woman who use tampons… are goddesses of some sort…

For the young ladies who still don't know.
Grab the tampon from the middle (where the applicator flattens out before meeting the bottom aka plunger).
Angle it towards your back as you insert all the way until your fingers meet skin (the plunger should still be completely outside of the body and it should easily slide in if not then angle it more or less until it does slide in comfortably. Remember your body is unique and just find the angle that works for you. If it's hard to get in or hard to remove then go down a size).
Push the plunger all the way down (the plunger should meet the applicator).
Pull out applicator and 🎉. You should be able to forget it's even there.
Also try reusable or disposable silicone period cups. You leave them in all day and either empty them in the toilet, take them out in the shower or toss them completely. A great option if you're working, swimming, having sex,

Videos are 100% the way to go. Models help so much.

Also just putting it out there but you don't HAVE to use a tampon if you don't want to, or it doesn't feel comfortable. Some women have a Retroverted Uterus which means that it is tilted, which can make it even harder to insert a tampon into. So even after trying multiple times and it still doesn't feel right, do not feel like there is something wrong with you! you deserve to feel comfortable in your body and that means using whatever feels best to you! there are so many options nowadays that tampons and pads aren't the only options! you got this <3

As a 43 year old I have only used tampons a few times, but when I watched this a few months ago I was encouraged to try em again. Still didn't like it but loved the confidence I had from viewing this. Thanks for highlighting. Your page matters, even to this old bleeder. Thanks

I learned just this year at Christian camp. A girl who i was bunking with taught me how to use one, because i had no more pads and we were having a water day at camp also. I was 15, and she was 17, and im so grateful she waswilling to just tell me how to do it, bc it helped me a lot.
