07.28.2020 | 7:40 PM | ANAHEIM - A high-speed crash into a pole left one person dead and another injured, Tuesday night.

The crash was reported on the southbound I-5 Freeway just south of Brookhurst Street around 7:40 PM.

When crews arrived on scene they located a black 2016 Chevrolet Malibu with two occupants that had crashed into a pole.

The driver of the vehicle was rushed to an area hospital for treatment while crews worked to free the passenger who was trapped in the wreckage.

After about 30 minutes of cutting away at the vehicle the passenger was freed but ultimately declared deceased on scene.

Witnesses reported seeing the vehicle traveling at over 100 MPH when it lost control and crashed into the pole.

The cause of the crash is under investigation and speed is being weighed as a potential factor.

The video just goes to show us how life vs death is a matter of inches. Had the vehicle missed the pole everyone probably walks away. RIP to the victim, damn shame.

So much respect for that 1st responder @5:50. He's like steel. I can't begin to imagine all the things he's seen in his career. Still able to preform his job at 110% capacity to save a life. Bless him AND all 1st responders. Untold heros!

Y’all stay safe out on the roads. Just because it seems “cool” or “fun” to drive fast doesn’t mean that’s what you should be doing. Driving is a privilege and you share the roads with others. Protect yourselves and others by just following the rules 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Thank you, firefighters and EMS personnel. I can only imagine how difficult it would be to deal with vehicle fatalities...taking home those images.

It's so sad seeing someone you know die in this tragedy. This kid was just starting his life. His mom was a single mother that kept him for 15 years and took care of him just so she can see that child to have a good life. But that ended that day. I feel so bad for him really do it just really hard seeing him die at this age and he had a little sister and a little brother and now those little kids wont grow up with that older brother RIP Jorge u were always the good guy my prayers go to your family🕊

These are the types of calls that stick with us... we get back to the station and think what we could have done differently? All the training and experience sometimes is never enough. Time runs out and we’re left with a scar. What saves our mental are the lives we do save, it balances the good/bad. Please be safe.

Even though there was no need to move quickly, the fire department really did hustle to extricate the passenger.

My Son Is 14 and His name is Giovanni. I'm crying watching this and I don't even know you. Giovanni, you were so loved. I see so many people commenting on here that know you. I'm so sorry. Thinking of you and your Family. You didn't deserve this. This is what gives me Severe anxiety. Worrying everyday that something can happen to my Handsome, Funny, Lovable son. 😥💙💔
Did I see that the driver was his brother? How horribly sad.

That pole is probably the absolute worst thing they could have hit.
