I think mistakes are sometimes more important lessons than failures. I make jewellery & my worst mistake is overspending on supplies and making my profit really low. I completely relate to the burn out too. Unfortunately hiring people is very difficult in the UK as we're expected to do all the same paperwork & provide pensions etc as big companies.

For me, this is among one of the best videos you've ever created as it's REAL about what is means to be in business. I've become disenchanted with the online space because there's too many "business experts" focusing only on marketing when the reality is business is more than just marketing. Business is also finance, sales, human resources, leadership, operations. Cashflow is king. I think that's why too many people struggle in business because they're focused on the wrong activities, especially in start-up and growth stages. Joining an in-person business accelerator made a MASSIVE difference for me in my understanding of running a business and the execution required for sustainability. Thank you for putting your voice out there about what it means to run a real business. Your book recommendations are gold.

I really like that you are sharing all of this that's been going on Sunny. I remember when you took a break and I was following you through it, but never really knew what was going on. As hard as it is to share, it helps to hear we all have the same struggles at some point in our business.


I also, agree with not wanting to work with people just for the money and the mental energy it takes from you, your family, friends. Just the overall ripple effect it has on everyone and everything you do!


Oh and testing. I've been on the fence with that for an idea. That helps to hear a small beta group is best. But, seriously can relate to the too much money too fast and blowing up in your face.

I think most people that start businesses, especially if they are on their own, have similar stories. Many years ago I started a tech business that had negative cash flow every month but I told myself that was OK because I could turn things around in 18 months once my products were selling. I was also involved in a partnership that invested heavily in the stock market, did not require attention on my part, and generated significant cash that I used to live on and cover my tech business. Until it didn't after a one morning stock market crash. Lost everything in both businesses, not to mention all of our savings (my wife and I). A very painful lesson for a young entrepreneur to learn but an important one. The good news was that I was young and had marketable skills that eventually allowed me to recover. Good to be an American with opportunities.
