That is why the rich stay rich and the poor remains poor. It is just sad. We work hard to live on the miniscule amount that social security thinks is ok. There is no such thing as golden years. My advice is save money each month, but not in the bank.

Also, when rich borrow money, the interest they pay goes to another corporation, not the govt. So instead of paying taxes that could help poor people, it is added to another rich person's wealth. They have effectively found a way to keep their money from helping the poor, leaving the tax burden to the working class.

In 1960, Republican President Dwight Eisenhower presided over a 91% tax bracket for the ultra rich. We need that again so we can lower the tax brackets for ordinary Americans. The estate tax for the rich should also be 91% across the board above, say, one or two million per child.

It’s funny that you mention Andrew Mellon. I live in a small town in central Missouri. I can literally look at several buildings in this town, and many surrounding towns just like it, and see libraries, court houses, sheriffs departments and other infrastructure that was donated by Andrew Mellon. He sure was generous for being a “robber baron.”
