David Mann (Dennis Weaver), a mild mannered electronics salesman, is driving cross-country on a two-lane highway when he encounters an old oil tanker driven by an unseen driver who seems to enjoy annoying him with dangerous antics on the road. Unable to escape the demonic big rig, David finds himself in a dangerous game of cat and mouse with the monstrous truck. When the pursuit escalates to deadly levels, David must summon his inner warrior and turn the tables on his tormentor.

The original truck was a 1955 Peterbilt 281. That truck was obviously destroyed, so when they bought two replacements to extend the movie for the theatrical release.

Love this movie. My favorite is the rear shot of the 66 Impala

The Valiant was metallic beige/gold when Spielberg found it, he had it painted red to stand out in the desert.

This movie has a HUGE cult following. There's massive documentation on each car & truck used in the filming.

Nice work on this classic! Also note the '59 Cadillac Fleetwood next to the '58 Belvedere.
How about doing _The California Kid_ or _Smash-up on Interstate 5_ soon?

You missed one. At 3:22, there is a 1959 Cadillac Fleetwood next to the 1958 Plymouth Belvedere.

3:49 Again they left the MFG, manufacture, plate on that car for the shot. The plate was at least 2 years old as it was black and yellow.

The only fake plate I saw was on Dennis Weavers' car, all the rest look like they were real plates.
