According to chatgpt when i asked, it's most likely the truck driver is an ghost, demon or spirit of anger, disgust and evil for a couple of reasons, pin so everyone sees

1- chasing david mann the entire movie trying to kill him just because david mann surpassed him in the road in the start of the movie, this is not a reason to be all that mad..

2- the scene when david hid and slept, and a train horn wake him up, let's say he slept for a couple hours there, before he slept the truck has passed by him, but then.. When david went back in the road after he slept, he saw the truck there waiting for him, no way a person would wait for david so long, and it's almost like he knew david was there on a spot he couldn't even see him in the road, so therefore we can say he tracks david's movements.

3- after the truck crash in the end of the movie, we can see no dead bodies inside the truck, just a "blood" in the steering wheel, but if u think *but before the truck fell, the driver's door opened*, if the truck driver jumped and survived, he would probably get into a fight with david, trying to k1ll each other

Bonus: another thing that proves this is that we cannot see his face in any way

because of the technology back then the truck was actually driven off the cliff while there was someone inside the door opens right before it falls thats because the driver jumped out last second

I love the idea that the truck is alive by its self. It would have been great that no one was driving except some intelligence. But still the idea the driver wasn't shown was ok. It added to the mystery. Excellent movie. Now to find a model kit of this would be nice.🖕🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️
