A Non-Fiction book foreword is an introduction to a book and it’s author, that is written by someone other than the author. If you’re writing a non-fiction book you may be wondering how you can find someone of influence to write your book foreword and what it should say. In this video, Book Launchers found Julie Broad explains what exactly a non-fiction book foreword is, what makes a good one, and what you should never ever do just to get one written.

I never read a forward to any book. And I recently read somewhere that most people don't read forward or introduction and that many actually read the dedication instead.

Thanks for the insights, Julie. I will remember when going about the process of getting an endorsement, blurb, and a Foreward.

Thank you, this was so worthwhile to watch. The publisher wanted a foreword for my book about living with brain injury. Just decided to take it out (not going with the publisher). Like what you said, something short about why people with brain injury should read the book.

New service: Forwards by Julie 😎
I always read the forwards. I wasn't aware people didn't. Now I'm feeling like I'm weird 😁

Awesome. I’m going to skip having a foreword! Whew! Now that you mention it, and asked, I rarely read forewords.

It really depends upon the book whether or not I read the forward. Sometimes I find that reading the forward makes the book seem more interesting because it offered me more insight into events that helped shape the book or gave me some insight into why the book was written which only peaks my interest more. But there are time when I feel like the forward is not offering me any valuable insight so I skip past it and go straight to reading the book.

Great tips - reading forwards? It really depends on the book and how it's written - if it grabs my interest in the first few lines I'll read it, if not, will jump to the actually book. Love your jacket btw.

How should you acknowledge a celebrity wrote your forward? I think I’ve seen the name on the book cover. Thank you. I have gotten so much great information from you while writing my first book.

Personally, 99% of the times I skip the forward, I just get to the book.

I think you mean Foreword not Forward. The first means the words in the front; the second means to move in the direction one is facing. The thumbnail and comments are a bit confusing.

Great insight, as always 😊
I personally don't read forwards. I generally like to get right in to the book, and some forwards are too long anyway 😁
