Oil Pressure Sensor Replacement

An oil pressure sensor replacement is one of the easiest jobs for a DIY and this can save you loads of money. This is a fix for a red oil pressure light on your dashboard. Watch until the end to see if this removed the red oil pressure light on my dash. The oil pressure sensor is sometimes referred to as an oil pressure sending unit. This particular oil pressure sensor that I used was about $10 at the local auto store. Online you can find them for as low as $5.

Thanks so much!. My 99 328ic sensor was $16 and I was able to change it out. I had the same issue of oil leaking all over the connector and the oil switch. Instead of vice grips I chipped away half of the hose connector housing that was in my way. My hose to the alternator was missing anyway so that housing wasn't being used. I did save half incase I wanted to get one, but the wrench was able to turn the sensor bolt now that I had more room. Started the car and the oil pressure light went out about 10 seconds after I turned it on so thanks again!

I just paid 326.00 to replace 2 oil pressure sensors in a Honda Odyssey. Dishonest auto mechanics are taking all of my money and sending me into an early grave. There should be a law against mechanics scamming people.

The washer is a bonded washer to stop oil leaks, and yes there is a torque setting fot the nut to stop people over tightening and crushing the seal

Great job of explaining things in a way that even I can understand. I will be changing the sensor on my
Pt Cruiser, since the oil chime just will not quit. My first PT went 237K miles before the tranny went south.
That was a 2002 I purchased new. This one is a used 2007 and is not treating me as nice as the first one.
Maybe there is a Beemer in my future.

Funmy fact: i was looking for some drawings or picture or anything that could help me with that oil switch for weeks, and today i started youtube and your video was recommed for me. And i even got the same engine in my e36 limo - m52b20
My oilpressure light is flickering/lit around no throttle till 1k and bit rpm. Maybe this fixes my problem, part is already on the way.

I will say I didn't have to remove the tire luckily. However I did have to remove the belt, the side wheel pannel, and the three bolts for the compressor to move it out of my way to see/use my tools.
For those that didn't you're magical in my eyes. 2007 dodge caliber 2.0.

FYI: If you add some thread sealing tape around the threads you wont need to change it out again as it could just start leaking through again-
