Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda recently released his debut solo album, called "Post Traumatic." Shinoda told Fox 5's Lisa Evers that his goal with the new songs was to peel away every layer of superficiality in the national mental health conversation. He spoke about his friend Chester Bennington, who took his life in July 2017. Shinoda talked about the loss and the sadness but also the good memories and the therapeutic nature of songwriting.

NOTE: Anyone who needs help can call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-8255. You will be transferred to the crisis center nearest you. The calls are free and confidential. Para soporte de crisis en Español, llame 888-628-9454.

I love how he keeps his word and tells the journalist how to write about suicide.

One of those songs that he presented Chester was Breaking The Habit which was about Chester's struggles with drugs. It ended up being Chester favorite Linkin Park Song, just like Mike said.

I believe Mike and Chester's main appeal to me wasn't just the music they made together, (which of course was amazing and I grew up listening to them) but it's the fact that they actually really care about people. We are in dire need of more people like Mike, who are in a battle to break the stigma of mental illness. Chester is so very missed by so many people. Thank you Mike for everything thing you do.

I love how open he has been ❤ I feel like she could have asked him about chester in a less callous way....it was so generically "here are the questions, answer them." You can definitely tell those who really know and care about Mike and Linkin Park and those who are just doing a job.

When they were talking about being "fine" it made me cry because I read something that Chester walked into the studio while recording or writing, "Heavy", and people asked Chester how he was and he said he was fine but then moments later, Chester bursts out saying that he wasn't okay and he wasn't fine and all. It just made me cry so much😭

Holy $hit. This interviewer didn't give a rhuck about her questions or about Mike's feelings in regards to those questions. Mike handle this very well. Very professional. Also digging the 90's public access camera quality on this one.

Such a genuine guy, Mike. My heart still breaks for you all and I wish you, the guys from the band, and Chester's family all the best.

Just an all around very impressive guy! Notice how every question he looks for ways to make the answer a far reaching response that is inclusive of anyone listening to this interview. The level of confidence he must have in himself must be off the charts to take this evil / dark experience and work through it to create art. Nothing but massive respect for him.
