To die-hard fans, Elvis Presley is still the king of rock 'n' roll — despite having died way back in 1977. And while the near-mythical musician's celebrated career is worth a deep dive of its own, it's his tragic passing at the age of 42 that continues to confuse fans. Why? Well, simply put, a slew of details regarding his death have been kept from Presley's adoring public.

For whatever reason, the musician's father Vernon Presley requested that his son's autopsy remain sealed until 2027, the 50th anniversary of his son's death. Still, a publicly available medical examiner's report was completed, and, while it doesn't shed as much light as a formal autopsy report, it does provide some insight into the final moments of a legend. These are disturbing details found in Elvis Presley's postmortem report.

Elvis lived more in 42 years than most people can manage to wring out of a lifetime. He still lives in the heart of us who love him.

Elvis was a nice man. He was a generous man. He was a family man. Elvis gave more than he ever took from anybody. Elvis said "You have to give them something." I think this statement was made in response to how much people had given him. Elvis was grateful. Thank you, thank you very much.

Elvis had many medical issues that were inherited. He also had a traumatic brain injury which added to the disorders he inherited. The more I read and researched about the man, the sadder the story became..
My Mom was a huge Elvis fan and was devastated when he died (I was too young to understand why, but now I do).
Adding to his medical issues was of course, the fact that his management pressured him to perform no matter what..he even collapsed backstage once before a show, and instead of rushing him to the ER, they shot him up with amphetamines to keep him going. Doctors kept prescribing all sorts of pain meds instead of addressing the causes of the pain.
Absolutely tragic life story.
I adore his voice and his performances on video, and admire how hard he worked for his fans, and his tremendous generosity to his loved ones and fans.
RIP ELVIS 💔🙏

I was a young 20 when EP died. I'm now 66, and just want to last long enough to see what is in that private document to be released in 2027. RIP Elvis.

Why can we not all agree that his voice will remain with all of us forever?

He is one of the few singers besides Patsy Cline and Judy Garland, who really emotionally communicated a song to a audience. It is truly a gift from God. Elvis sang his love, anger and pain and the audience felt it.

I can’t believe this! Elvis was a little heavy on his last concert. Just 6 weeks before his death. But by all means not 300 something!!! He was so dynamic, singing to his fullest, joking, dancing! He looked sad and tired. But, his performance and his voice never failed him. And like Ginger said, he just looked like a handsome 42 years young man!! Stop it for God’s sake! That is very disrespectful towards the person who made history with his work and gave all his life to please everybody. A beautiful soul full of kindness and generosity. He was not prefect. He was human. A wonderful human being in and out. And nothing is going to change his fans’ love and respect for him.

He needed people around him, especially a good doctor, that would not exacerbate his health problems instead of making them worse. So very sad that he was gone so soon.

I was still mourning the death of my mother who died on Mother's Day, May 8, 1977. She was only 55. Then Elvis' death happened in August. Again, my heart was torn. It was not a good year.
