One critical step you forgot to mention, for those using any microSD cards LARGER than 64gb (128gb, 256gb, or 512gb), you have to make sure to select ✨65536✨as your "Allocation Unit Size". This will fix any lag during boot & 3DS themes switching back to default after reboot or closing settings.

I bought a 32gb memory card because I have an old 3DS and wanted to make sure it worked. So the TL;DR for anyone in my situation is "just click and drag the files it'll be fine."

thanks so much, i was going through so many written guides cause i prefer them to videos because of pacing, but none of them actually mentioned you needed to format the sd card to fat32, your video was short sweet and to the point and all guides should be like this

Hey thanks alot!! I was playing my 2ds XL on a very limited 32gb sd card and i only had like 3gb left. And I did what you instructed to and now ive upgraded to a 512gb! And the old 32gb went towards my 1gb R4 card!! Tysm for the help! I thought I was stucked at low storage forever ❤

Thank you bro. My 3ds had a 2GB card and i upgraded to 32g thanks to this video. I have a mac and used Disk Utility. You have to click erase and reformat it to fat32. No extra program needed.
