Thank you SO much. This worked PERFECTLY for me. My regulator had been replaced by a plumber about 10 years ago and failed last month. The inside was a rusted mess, although the only thing actually 'broken' was the small rubber O ring. I ordered the repair kit from Amazon for around $60, and with a couple of hours work (the two plugs at the bottom were frozen solid and needed a lot of work to remove which added an hour) I saved a $400 (or more) plumber's visit to replace the valve. The only difference between my 1" device and the one in the video was that the new stem was not a threaded stud at the top, but instead was a tapped hole so the diaphragm was attached with a supplied bolt instead of the nut in the video. It all went together exactly as described otherwise, and when it was done I turned on the water and no leaks and set the pressure for for 65 psi using a meter I had. Excellent no nonsense video. Grateful for your time in posting this.

Thanks for the video really helped my confidence. Got it fully done in about an hour and no more high pitched noise when the water flows. Thanks!!!

So that's why the bell housing is shaped like that--because there's a big compression spring inside. I always wanted to know that. Great video. Thank you.

Worked great. Thanks for giving me the confidence to try the repair myself. I will confess that I have checked it for leaks a few times since I did the repair last evening, but I am a little paranoid about water leaks. Nice to have it working again.

Thank you! Helped a lot! Saved $200 as the 1" Zurn valve is now $264 at HD.

Awesome video. I’m here in 2024. The strainer screen at 1:39 only goes in one way, so if it does not snap in place like in the video, flip it 180 and press it in. Also my entire regulator was full of calcium deposits. I used CLR and a toothbrush to clean everything. On stubborn spots I had to use emery cloth. It took me longer to clean everything than to rebuild the regulator.

The instructions were terrible and I had a leak! Your video was perfect as I had the friction ring installed on the wrong side. Thanks!

Thank you so much! I was just replacing faucet cartridges and a friend said it might be the regulator. Got the same one you have ;) and sure enough, I have 118psi :( I'll get the kit and give it a go! Can you help me better understand what "not over tighten the plunger" means? Also, when I reassemble the plugs should I add teflon tape or anything like that? I subscribed to your channel because of all the help in this video! Thank you again!
