You know what would impress me? If Milanote could read your storyboard text and use it to generate AI image sketches for each note. That would make it a killer app.

Man this video comes at the most perfect moment for me. I‘m currently in pre production for a short film and actually intended to use your method for storyboarding and now theres a whole video about it! Thanks for being an inspiration in general!

Answered my prayers. I was literally thinking about a story board video the other day, and how I wanted to see your story boarding process.

Currently in the process of making my first ever short film, so this was super helpful!

Thank you!

Loved this! I’ve used Milanote for all pre-production, including storyboarding for a couple of years now (inspired by your previous videos). Really enjoy seeing how other filmmakers go on about their thought process on the matter and this already gave me some new ideas on how to improve mine 🙏

I just want to let you know that I watched your baseball short film …. and long story short now I’m in fullsail university for cinematography! You inspired me to take that step to improve on a whole other level. Thank you for taking hours to edit, create, and plan your work to share it to the world! You truly are inspiring!!

Love the idea of keeping the storyboard workflow simple and to the point. We can really get way too detailed and spend way too much time getting all that out there.

Danny, I wish I could have seen this video explanation when I first tried Milanote. Milanote is like a blank piece of paper that you can do anything with it. I just looked at it and thought "What do I do with this?" This video is so helpful because you show us how you create a storyboard and you show us that it does not have to be perfect and only conveys the idea of what the shot looks like. Happy New Year!

Seeing the shots match the storyboard is crazy! It makes a lot of sense as to how your specs feel like a movie 😮‍💨

Shot deck is such a great tool to help storyboard. It really helped my last film.

Yo, really appreciate you walking through this. I'm prepping for my first tv commercial and super nervous. Have the idea in my head but trying to explain and walk it out so others can get on board is difficult at times. Going to try this out, Thanks!

Loved this video!

You touched a bit on something that I got as a piece of advice a couple years ago that's been super helpful for my projects: the more comprehensively you complete a given phase of production, the more efficient the subsequent steps become. In other words, if you don't lock off each step as a finished one, you shouldn't move to the next step. Finish your script, THEN move to pre-production. Finish all the pre-production steps, and THEN figure out shoot dates. And definitely don't start color-grading or sound-designing until you are satisfied with the edit.

Some things can be hard to implement into this process, such as the fact that pre-production involves finding locations, which ultimately results in setting a schedule up, but I think the point is that you should defer those kinds of things to the end of the respective phase to make sure that you've got a project that is fulfilling it's purpose before you rush onward to the next step. Typically, rushing(or alternatively a lack of planning) has been the reason some of my projects earlier on didn't succeed in the ways I wanted them to.

Huge fan of your approach to this whole 'filmmaking' thing.
